Important News - On October 2, 2011 we here at Prometheus-Movie.com were leaked a lengthy review of the official Prometheus movie trailer by one of our members who was lucky enough to have seen it before the rest of the world. For those who got to read his post, it has created serious hype throughout the comunity and other sites. But since the original post here, Fox had us remove the post. (Thus proving the post was in fact a review of the official Prometheus trailer!)

- We were leaked images of a possible "official" Prometheus film poster on August 8th, 2011 which unfortunately turned out to be a fan made piece. The artwork was so well done however, we decided to give it a mention anyways. View the poster and images here.

- On July 1, 2011 we managed to get a brief, official synopsis for Prometheus out of Fox after a false synopsis was leaked online. The official synopsis can be viewed here.

- On June 09, 2011 leaked pictures of the Prometheus set found their way on the internet. They depicted structures which ressembled the ones seen in the Alien Derelict; (Alien 1979).

- H.R Giger is said to be working on Prometheus with Ridley Scott to redesign the Alien for the film as they attempt to create the "original" Alien; discovering the creation of the "Facehugger" and what led to the creature's development.

Current Official Synopsis

Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Original Official Synopsis

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

What we know so far:

Little is known about Prometheus' plotline. But what we can share with you is that the film is set in space for the most part. Similar to that of "ALIEN"; the jumping off point to this project. The film's name "Prometheus" is that of the space vessel, used by a crew of select individuals who set off to explore and investigate fragments of "Alien DNA".

The film itself revolves around the Space Jockey creature; as seen in the original film ALIEN (1979). When the team of scientists embark on this journey, they get stranded on an Alien world which tests their limits; both mental and physical.

Prometheus is also largely based on the creation of mankind, life and the Earth. From the recent synopsis publicly released by 20th Century Fox, we can determine roughly that Prometheus involves a team of scientists, "The Company" representatives and robot / synthetics which investigate and search for keys to unlock man's ultimate mystery. But in the process, they threaten the future existence of mankind and are faced with unimaginable horrors.

The Aliens themselves are said to be much larger than the original "Xenomorphs" we are used to. However, their overall construction will be easily noticable to that of the original Alien canon.

Prometheus will be much more than just an Alien sci-fi horror. Ridley Scott is digging deeper for this project and Prometheus will unlock many questions and will touch on many aspects of life and existence. A true masterpiece.

Connction and Ties to Alien:

It became evident to to us the tie between Prometheus and Ridley Scott's original ALIEN. In a fictional TED conference created as a viral marketing scheme by FOX to further promote Prometheus, we were introduced to a very noticable character which would further prove and validate Prometheus as a definite prequel to ALIEN...

Peter Weyland - the head and owner of WEYLAND CORP, portrayed by actor Guy Pearce, gives a rather influential speech on the greek myth of Prometheus, technology and his intentions to "change the world". In celebration of the "cpmany's 50th anniversary", FOX launched a website under the address http://weylandindustries.com - which featured a link to thies TED video as well as promotional snippets of information for the eager fan bas.

The inclusion of WEYLAND is a major focal point as it ties Alien and Prometheus together. It is the same company responsible for both expeditions, Prometheus and Nostromo. In an interview Ridley Scott identifies that this is the only tie between Alien and Prometheus - but up until that point, Mr. Scott himself had battled with the press to assure us that Prometheus was in fact NOT a direct prequel to ALIEN, but instead a stand-alone film.

As it may still be considered a "Stand-Alone" film, the obvious connections can not be mistaken and the inclusion of WEYLAND further confirms Prometheus is more of a prequel than the studio, actors and director would like to have us believe.

The Alien

The Alien in Prometheus will be very reminiscent of the original "Xenomorph" seen in the popular sci-fi Alien series; originally kicked off by Ridley Scott aswell. However, these new creatures are said to be much, much larger than the Xeno's we are familiar with; being a product of Alien DNA and Space Jockey, the Alien product will look different, and will be extremely large in size.

The overall features which make "Alien" so Alien will be easily noticable according to inside sources with minor changes to suit that of the host species; in this case the unfortunate pilot Space Jockey. This follows the original Alien canon of host-dependant characteristics. Aliens born of humans, equal human-Alien crossed byproduct. Aliens born from dogs, equal dog-Alien crossed byproduct. So the fact that an Alien born from the enormous Space Jockey would be larger than that born of a human would make perfect sense.

Whether these Aliens bleed acid or not is still unknown, aswell as the "second jaw" characteristic which was so unqiue to the original "Alien's". Not much is known regarding bodily features, but we do have a small grasp on what to expect in terms of behavior. These Aliens are said to act differently, more perverse and a strong sexual infleuence is hinted in recent sourced news articles regarding the film's progress.

The concept of the infint Alien bursting through the chests of their victims is still rumoured to be a characteristic of these creatures. Which leads us to believe that the classic "Alien life cycle" has not be interrupted in the re-design for this film. But there may be variants, again not much is known this early in developement.

Noomi Rapace

Noomi Rapace will play a scientist named " Elizabeth Shaw" on the expidition to the Alien world. Not much is known about her, but we have been hinted that there may be a flash back to her history prior to the events leading up to Prometheus, not much is known however what significance this could hold to the overall turn out of the film.

Michael Fassbender

Michael will play "David", a robot synthetic (a main character) on board the Prometheus venturing out into space. In the Comic-Con footage released earlier 2011, it shows David examining some form of liquid on his finger - suspected "Grey Matter" which is an integral part of the Prometheus Plot. David presents a very important role in Prometheus.

Charlize Theron

Charlize will play the role of "Vickers" in Prometheus, a company rep joining the team as they venture into the unknown. Vickers represents the "company" on board the Prometheus. Vickers is supposedly a very important part of the plot of Prometheus.

Kate Dickie

Kate plays the role of "Mudow" in Prometheus. The crew member responsible for acclimating the crew after 5 years of hyper-sleep. Unfortunately her character lasts only 28 minutes in the film before being eaten by an Alien!

Guy Pearce
Guy Pearce plays the role of Peter Weyland, owner and founder of WEYLAND Corp - the company responsible for the Prometheus mission to investigate the origins of mankind. Still unknown to us as to whther or not Peter Weyland is the father or grandfather to Charles Bishop Weyland from the original Alien series. But his inclusion into Prometheus has officially tied Prometheus into the Alien timeline.

No word yet as to what is to become of the Yutani Corporation, which eventually joins forced with WEYLAND to form the famous WEYLAND-YUTANI CORPORATION from ALIENS. We may or may not see reference to this joining in Prometheus.
