Shall [Gramática]

No se usa "shall" muy frecuentemente en el inglés moderno, particularmente en america. Se usa para sugerir a otros o recibir consejo.

• What time shall we meet?
• Shall we vote on it now?
• What dress shall I wear?
• Shall I open the window?

En gramática antigua, "shall" se usaba como alternativa a "will" con "I" y "we". Hoy "will" es el más usado, cuando usamos "shall" es una idea más personal.

• I shall go to see the boss and I shall ask him to explain this decision.

Es importante saber que la forma negativa es "shall not" o "shan´t", aunque la segunda sería muy rara en el continente america.

• I don't like these people and I shall not go to their party.
• I shan't object if you go without me.
