Cómo preguntar en el pasado usando (there)

Para preguntar en el pasado podemos considerar la palabra “there” como sujeto del verbo y simplemente empezamos la pregunta con “was” o “were” dependiendo de si es plurar o simgular; was = singular, were= plural.

Ejemplos:

• ¿Había un inspector de billetes en el tren? = was there a ticket inspector on the train?
• Había mucha gente cuando llegaste? = were there many people you arrived?
• ¿Hubo algún probrema con la reserva? ? was there a problem with the booking?
• ¿Había muchos conductores por encima del límite en la última campaña contra el alcoholismo? = were there a lot of drivers over the limit in the last drink-driving  cut-down?
• ¿Qué habia para comer en la fiesta? = what was there to eat at the party?
• ¿Cuántas asistentas había en la reunión? = how many housekeepers were there at the meeting? 
• ¿Había polvo en el cuadro? = was there any dust on the painting?
• ¿Había bastantes sillas para todo el mundo? = Were there a lots of different types screws  to choose from?
• ¿Quedaba mermelada en el tarro? = was there any jam left in the jar?
