El presente continuo se utiliza para hablar de situaciones en el presente. Veamos los siguientes ejemplos:
En estos ejemplos la accion toma parte
en ese mismo momento. / In these examples, the action is taking place at
the time of speaking.
It's raining cats and dogs. / Esta lloviendo a
cantaros
Who is Julia Roberts talking
to on the phone? / ¿Con quién está hablando Julia
Roberts al teléfono?
Look, somebody is trying to steal that man's wallet. / Mira, alguien está
intentando robar la billetera de ese hombre.
I'm not looking. My eyes are
closed tightly. / No estoy mirando, mis
ojos están cerrados firmemente.
En estos ejemplos la acción es cierta en
el presente pero no esperamos que lo sea en el futuro. / In these examples, the action is true at the present time but we don't
think it will be true in the long term.
I'm looking for a new
apartment. / Estoy buscando un Nuevo apartamento.
He's thinking about leaving
his job. / El está pensando dejar el trabajo.
They're considering making an
appeal against the judgment. / Están considerando una apelación contra la
sentencia.
Are you getting enough sleep?

I'm meeting her at 6.30. / He quedado con ella a las 6:30
They aren't arriving until
