Dropp off: (Caerse dormido). “She was so tired that she dropped off”.
Ella estaba tan cansada que cayó dormida.
Get away: (Escapar). “Stop them! They are getting away!”
¡Paralos! ¡se están escapando!
Get off: (Escapar de un castigo). “The thief got off with a fine”.
El ladrón escapó del castigo con una multa.
Get on: (Ascender/Subir). “They got on the bus at the station”.
Go down: (Bajar/Descender). “It’s cooler once the sun goes down”.
Se subieron al autobus en la estación. Es más fresco una vez baja el sol.
Hold up: (Robar a mano armada). “Two men held up a bank this morning”.
Dos hombres robaron un banco a mano armada esta mañana.
Beat up: Beat-Beaten (Dar una paliza). “The two boys beat up the old man”.
Los dos chicos dieron una paliza al viejo.
Keep on: (Continuar). “Let’s keep on working until 9”.
Sigamos trabajando hasta las 9.
Knock out: (Hacer perder a un rival la conciencia). “The Sorong man knocked him up”. El hombre Sorong lo dejo inconsciente.
Let out: (Liberar). “You must let out your anger”.
Debes liberar tu furia.
Pick out: (Ver a alguien entre la muchedumbre). “They asked her to pick the thief out”.
La preguntaron que si veía al ladrón entre la muchedumbre.
Pick up: A) (Agarrar/Pasar a buscar algo). “They picked up
the tickets for the concert”.
B)
(Arrestar a un criminal) “The thief was picked up by the police”.
A) Ellos cogieron/agarraron los tickes para el concierto. B) El ladrón fue recogido por la policía.
Put away: (Poner a alguien en prision). “Murderers should be put away for life”.
Los ladrones deben de ponerse en prisión de por vida.
Set off: (Causar una actividad repentina). “The alarm was set off by accident”.
La alarma salto por accidente.
Set up: (Engañar). “You’ve been set up by that woman”.
Has sido engañado por esa mujer.
Take off: (Imitar). “Richard loved taking off his teachers”.
A Richard le gustaba imitar a sus profesores.
Tighten up: (Ser mas extrictos/Ajustar). “We need to tighten up security”.
Necesitamos ser más extrictos cno la seguridad.
